about me {Lisa Kelley}

Hello! Thank you for visiting sweet inspiration. This is where I'll write about raising my daughter while growing my creative business {milkshake crafts}.

I have always considered myself an artist. As a little girl I would spend hours and hours coloring, drawing and creating. Trips to the art supply store and thrift shops were my favorites.

I have been happily designing and making art under the name milkshake crafts since 2006. What started out as a fun, hands-on hobby to pass the time while my baby daughter slept has turned into a successful creative business. I have spent those years perfecting my craft and building a line of work that is easily identified as mine. Having my daughter has enabled me to dedicate myself to my art more than I would have ever imagined. She is a creative little girl, and often inspires my art.

My work is inspired by nature - gardens, beaches and woods. My bold surface patterns start out as drawings in ink on paper, and are then digitally colored and repeated. The patterns and images created from those drawings are then used on milkshake's home accessories (clocks, wall squares and magnets to name a few). All work is done by me in my Elkins Park, PA studio.

I have also been teaching art to children for the past few years. There is nothing like seeing a child get completely absorbed in an art project. They are so free and accepting of their work, not matter what they create. It's a trait I wish we could hold on to as adults.

I earned my BFA at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, with a concentration in graphic design. I had worked as a designer for over 10 years before starting milkshake. I live in Elkins Park, PA with my husband and young daughter.
