To paint!

Remember when I asked if I should paint the buffet in my dining room? The results were interesting. I also posted the question on my personal Facebook page, and all the artists who answered said "paint", while everyone else said "absolutely do not paint it!! Leave it alone!" Or something along those lines. Interesting, huh? I've decided that I'm going to paint it, probably some kind of wash, or antiquing method, but definitely not a solid paint color. Now I just have to wait until this rain stops! I did sand a bit off of the side of the buffet, and it seems as though it'll be easy to do. I'll be sure to post pictures when I'm finished!

On the Knack blog that I mentioned before, Barb posted about an ezine she's featured in - and she shows a little bit of her process for painting her pieces. One of things that helps the most is using TSP to wash down the whole piece - it deglosses it so the new primer/paint will adhere without any issues. But I'm not sure you'll need it if you're not doing the whole thing...hmmm.

Those pictures you linked to are the reason I decided to paint! Barb does beautiful work. I'll have to look for that article. What's TSP?

Tri-Sodium Phosphate. i got a non-rinse spray bottle to use when i just painted what were previously stained and sealed cherry cabinets for my office. it worked really well.
i highly recommend!
